Changing Faces
The human face is one of the most recognizable things to the human eye. Paradolia is a process where the eye starts to find faces in inanimate objects, this is proof that humans try to find faces in all things. What happens when the human face started to warp and change? Where is it no longer becomes recognizable? Does it still look like a face or does it start to look like another object? Changing Face looks at this idea of the human face and how are can you take it before it becomes unrecognizable. To do this a process called Mordencage was used. This process takes silver gelatin prints that have strong black tones and the chemistry reacts this the silver on the paper which causes the gelatin to lift off the paper. This created a ripple effect on the paper emphasizing this idea of working faces.
