Cheyenne W Logo
Spring 2020
This was a case study on letter forms and wordmarks. The goal was to take a three-letter airport code and create a luggage tag that will be used by that city. Think about how the font tie into the identity of the city chosen. Involve the history of the city and think about how that can tie into the design. Continue to use sketching and digital rough to develop multiple ideas. Uses letterforms to composite good positive and negative space while still making it legible and easy to read. I decided to create a word logo for Cheyenne Wyoming.

The design I created tries to reflect the history and culture of the western parts of America. The font is an old-style Serif font that reflects the typing pace that was commonly used in the late 1860s. This also reflects the business in modern-day, Cheyenne. Going forward the letter form are stacked to create intricate positive space by also cutting through the familiar negative space of the familiar letterform. The C cuts through both the Y and S to show that is the first letter of the code. Finally, the word Cheyenne is in the bottom right-hand corner to continue the transition that leads diagonally from left to right.
